GM section: Presenting the growth model

We're all set with our growth model. This is the last section of the project, where we'll learn how to present the growth model effectively.


1. Identify the north star metric for your product

2. Build a mathematical growth equation to achieve the north star

3. Collate the current metrics and establish a nuke scenario

4. Calculate the incremental growth and core levers

5. Present your growth model in a structured manner


Presenting the growth model

Now that your growth model is in place, it's time to present it to stakeholders within your organisation

To nail this, we will be using McKinsey’s Pyramid Principle.

  • Start with the main conclusion.
  • Mention each supporting key point.
  • Back every point with a detailed evidence.

Step 1: Begin with the Conclusion

Start by stating the main objective, which explains the primary goal of your growth model.

For example:
"Our revenue goal is X. Our current ARPU is Y. To achieve 30% of our revenue goal, we need to increase ARPU."


Step 2: Present Supporting Arguments

List the key factors that support your proposed solution.

For example:

  • Explain current revenue from monetisation experiments and ARPU rates.
  • Define the target ARPU rates and the expected incremental revenue growth.
  • Outline methods to increase ARPU, such as:
    • Increasing CPM (in the context of AVOD).
    • Improving FTP (in the context of SVOD).

Step 3: Support with Data & Evidence

Go a level deeper by presenting supporting data to validate your argument.

Examples:

  • Provide current data points, such as user acquisition rate, retention rates, and engagement metrics.
  • Show how increasing CPM based on current and projected rates will impact ARPU and overall revenue.
  • Use tables and graphs to visualize the data effectively.

Finally, propose key action items to improve ARPU, such as:

  • Redesigning the pricing page
  • Improving the placement of ads
  • Enhancing cohort-based targeting
